Donna Sharp Handbags and Purses

An American cultural tradition; quilting originated as far back as ancient Egypt and moved into medieval times when quilted clothing was in style. In the colonial United States, women used quilting as a leisure time activity while using up fabric pieces to provide warm blankets for their families. Quilting has been a historic, time-honored tradition in many cultures. Hand stitching scraps of fabric into detailed and sometimes complicated patterns has been a long running method for telling stories, marking history, and passing on tradition.

Quirky quilted handbags are Donna Sharp's newest signature specialty, and a part of a growing tradition. The Sharps, a fifth generation quilting family from Kentucky, got their business started at home. Now Quilts by Donna has grown so significantly that they require production units overseas. They have outgrown three locations in Kentucky, and now occupy a 14, 000 square foot warehouse. With sales in excess of 4.6 million dollars and projected growth, Quilts by Donna has grown so quickly that the Sharp family can hardly believe it. Her grandchildren still work in the office though, and Donna has never forgotten her quilting roots.

Quilts by Donna made its beginnings at craft fairs and trade shows, spreading quickly among quilting connoisseurs and quilt lovers by word of mouth. Only eight years ago the company had just three employees. Today, Donna Sharp exports her quilts and quilt- inspired designs overseas to meet the high demand for her quilts and quilted accessories. Sharp creates her own patterns and chooses the colors she deems perfect for her handbags. Quilting experts themselves love the original Donna Sharp patterns, and are among her biggest customers.

With the increasing popularity of quilting and quilt-patterned items, it was a natural development for Quilts by Donna to expand the line and incorporate quilt patterns into other accessories. Adding duvet covers, pillow shams, and finally handbags to her repertoire of quilt inspired accessories, Donna Sharp broke into fashion in quilt-inspired style.

Donna Sharp handbags come in a myriad of designs, shapes, and colors. Retailers and clients alike can choose which Donna Sharp quilt patterns and colors they would like to see on their chosen handbag design. With a limitless selection and a sense of tradition, Donna Sharp handbags are creative, original, and unusual.

Just bought a purse today, also thinking it was made in Kentucky, until I found the tag "Made in China" Thinking about taking it back. Another stab in the back from China. Soooooo Disappointed.

Just purchased a Donna Sharp purse in Venice Florida. It is beautiful. However, I read the label to discover it was made in China. How disappointing...it wasn't made in the USA

I really wanted to buy a quilt, until I read that they were made overseas. Thanks for at least being honest about the source.

I purchased a Donna Sharp purse and the interior zipper is broken. Needless to say when I went to zip up the first time and found this flaw I was extremely upset. The purse was purchased at the Covered Bridge Festival and I have no way of seeking the seller. Now what do I do?

I am searching for a Donna Sharp tote bag in the Cathedral Quilt pattern. I own a Bed and Breakfast and had a guest bring one with her stitching on an R&R and I fell in love with it. I would love to have one since my Grandmother made those quilts when I was small so the pattern is special to me.

Where is a good site to view and purchase your beautiful quilted purses? I was in a small resort town in northern NY and purchased the Jenna earth bag, but would like to purchase more styles and patterns for my self and gifts. Thank you
