Even as a young girl, Kathy Van Zeeland showed off her passion for fashion by drawing handbags and playing dress-up with her grandmother's clothes and accessories. As a teenager, she flipped endlessly through fashion magazines and dreamed of becoming a designer.
Getting her start as a buyer for upscale department store Saks Fifth Avenue, she gained valuable retail and fashion experience. After her time at Saks, Kathy felt as if she needed to explore her own designing abilities. With her husband Bruce's help, she designed and initiated the launch of Nine West, Easy Spirit and Enzo Angiolini accessories.
With experience, success and millions of her designs sold across the world, Kathy felt prepared to embark on a journey to launch her very own line of handbags and accessories. In 2004, encouraged by her family and her love of fashion and accessories, Kathy pursued her dream of being a designer.
The Kathy Van Zeeland line took off quickly and ever since, she's been building a mind-boggling handbag empire. Taking tips from classic designers and focusing her designs around man-made materials and funky-chic details, Van Zeeland has made her handbags recognized for their good quality and fantastic looks. Kathy's use of great materials and detailed ornaments lends her handbags the creative flare that gives Van Zeeland handbags their trendy and unique looks.
