London-born Luella Bartley, the former fashion journalist for British Vogue, turned fashion designer when she left her job with Vogue and began designing her own lines of clothing and accessories. Her first collection was worn by six model friends in her London apartment, but Luella soon built herself a name among the industry insiders as a designer to watch for.
Studying fashion at the upper-crust St. Martin's College in London, Luella Bartley's designs reflect nothing of her classic education. As a former journalist, Luella has a flare for the sensational. Shocking colors, 80s-inspired styling and cutting edge patterns are more Luella's speed. The designer herself says that her clothes are "the kind of clothes you can get drunk and fall over in."
By winning Elle magazine's Young Designer of the Year Award in 2000, Bartley set herself up for a major breakthrough onto the fashion scene. She is poised to become a big name in fashion - Luella Bartley could be the next Stella McCartney.
Luella Gisele Bag - Available in a rainbow of colors and a multitude of sizes, the Gisele bag is made from gorgeous calfskin leather. The Gisele bag is Luella's most popular handbag and it's no wonder. Certainly sleek and modern, but definitely vintage and chic - Gisele has detail to spare. From the rolled-leather dual handles to the Luella belt-style straps, grommets and o-ring hardware, the Gisele bag says style, function and funk all in one.
Baby Daria Tote - Check out the interesting, almost hexagonal, shape of the Luella Bartley Baby Daria Tote. Interesting and innovative, Luella makes this tote totally fabulous with dark brown leather and contrasting white stitching. Standard Luella details include the belt strap look and connecting o-rings. Bronze colored studs give the Baby Daria Tote a more vintage feel in spite of the modern shape. Signature heart tags complete the Luella look.
Luella Blue Kate Tote - The baby blue leather and innovative long body shape make this handbag stand out right away. And Luella likes the belt-style straps and o-rings to detail her handbags. But the grommets, belts and studs that Luella bags are known for aren't even what make this handbag so cool - it's the handles! Round, silver and half-covered with that pretty baby blue leather, the dual handles definitely give this bag its flavor.
